Surgeon Lieutenant Peter Hodgson, attached to 42 Commando RM, died in a training accident in Norway. Also killed was Mne. Stephen Jacques.
Awarded a RN Dental cadetship in 1977 he graduated and joined the CTC RM for his training being awarded his green beret in 1980.  He had served in the Falklands with 42 Commando and was later killed when he and his squad from 42 were undergoing routine arctic warfare training in Norway.  They were caught in un-forecast full blizzard conditions. Whilst he was supervising his men in the digging of snow holes for shelter , he and another Marine, became very cold and wet, and both later died of hypothermia before rescue could be effected.
