BLACK, George

Leading Medical Assistant George Black, attached to 40 Commando RM, received a Mention in Despatches in recognition of his service during operations in the South Atlantic.

CRITCHLEY, Evan

Leading Sick Berth Attendant Evan Critchley was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal during the Korean war for distinguished service with 41 Independent Commando RM in operations in Korean waters. 

DOWLEN, Henry

Major Henry Dowlen
Acting Major Henry Dowlen, RM Reserve, received the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in the field during the period 1 January to 30 September 2015 [1].
  • Surg. Lt. H. T. B. Dowlen, was initially Commissioned on 1 July 2002 and appointed to the Trained Strength of the Royal Navy Medical Branch on 18th February 2008 [2].
  • Appointed M.B.E. (Military Division) (45 Commando Medical Officer) in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Afghanistan during the period 1 October 2008 to 31 March 2009 [3].

JOLLY, Richard Tadeusz

Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Richard Jolly, acting Surgeon Commander, commanded Medical Squadron of the Commando Logistic Regiment Royal Marines during Operation Sutton in the South Atlantic May/June 1982.
In addition he had under his operational control two surgical support teams and a parachute clearing troop. He was awarded the O.B.E. (Military Division) [1][2]
Recommendation

KNOCK, Douglas Alexander

Surgeon Lieutenant Douglas Knock was attached to 41 Independent Commando RM at the time of his death in Korea. He was killed whilst the Commando were engaged in operations with US Forces as part of Taskforce Drysdale, named after their Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Douglas B. Drysdale , heading out from Koto-ri in an attempt to relieve allied forces at Hagaru-ri.  This was during what later became known as the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.
 

MCGLEN, Alexander

Sick Berth Attendant Alexander McGlen, attached to 40 Commando RM, was awarded the British Empire Medal (Military Division) in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Palestine during the period 27th March 1948 and 30th July 1948.

NICELY, Michael

Medical Assistant Michael Niceley
Medical Assistant Michael Nicely, attached to 45 Commando RM, received a Mention in Despatches in recognition of his service during operations in the South Atlantic.
 
Recommendation
"On the night of 11/12 June 1982, on the Island of East Falkland, 45 Commando, Royal Marines, launched an attack against strong enemy positions on the craggy hill feature of Two Sisters, ten kilometres to the West of Port Stanley. Medical Assistant Nicely was with his Company throughout the battle.

WADE, Edward Alan

Sick Berth Attendant Edward Wade RN received a Mention in Despatches for distinguished service with 45 Commando in operations in the Radfan Area, Western Aden Protectorate, during the period 13 April to 15 October 1964.

YOUNGMAN, Paul

Leading Medical Assistant Paul Youngman, attached to 45 Commando Group, received a Mention in Despatches in recognition of his service during operations in the South Atlantic.
