BUTTERY, George Desmond

Quartermaster Sergeant George Buttery, 40 Commando RM,  who had served as a Marine in 46RM Commando during WW2, was awarded the Military Medal for gallant and distinguished services on the 6th November 1956 during Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French Invasion of Port Said, Egypt.

EMSLIE, Hamish Brian

Lieutenant Hamish Emslie was awarded the Military Cross for distinguished service in operations in Malaya with 42 Commando RM [1+2].

This Officer has been most zealous in operations for a continuous period since July 1950. He is bold and courageous and sets a fine example to the ranks under his command.

GOURLAY, Basil Ian Spencer

Basil ian spencer Gourlay
Acting Captain Basil Gourlay was awarded the Military Cross whilst serving with 43RM Commando in WW2. 
 
Post war he served in 45 Commando Royal Marines 1945-1948, Brigade Major 3 Commando Bde Royal Marines 1955-1957; OC 42 Commando Royal Marines 1963-1965, ultimately being appointed Commandant General Royal Marines from 1971-75 after which he retired.

MANT, Douglas Edward

MEAD, Michael Edward

Corporal Michael Mead, Section Commander, No.7 Section, 'B' Troop,  was awarded the Military Medal for gallant and distinguished services on the 6th November 1956 during Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French Invasion of Port Said, Egypt [1] [2].

"On 6 November 1956 Cpl. Mead, having just disembarked from the 2nd wave of the helicopter assault force, was moving with his section along the main road adjoining the beaches to start clearing some buildings.

MEADOWS, Richard Francis Gerard

Captain Richard Meadows was appointed M.B.E., (Military Division), for leadership and courage of a high order when fighting a forest fire in the Paphos District of Cyprus on 17th June, 1956  [1].

Lieutenant Edward Ufton, 'B' Troop, from Burton-on-Trent, died during Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French Invasion of Port Said, Egypt.  He was leading a section clearing the Customs House when killed by enemy fire.
