Marine Thomas Curry died instantly as a result of enemy small arms fire when elements of 42 Commando were engaged in close-quarter fighting with the Taleban near Kajaki, in Northern Helmand. He received a posthumous Mention in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Afghanistan.
