Lieutenant Mark Waring received a Mention in Despatches in recognition of his service during operations in the South Atlantic between 21 May - 15 June 1982. He was the Gun Position Officer of 8 (Alma) Commando Battery RA throughout Operation Sutton - the landings on the shores of San Carlos Water, at Ajax Bay and Port San Carlos on East Falkland.
