Captain John Simpson, RE, joined 46 RM Commando from the Commando Mountain Warfare Training Centre (C.M.W.T.C) on 5 April 1944 at Folkestone [1]
He was an instructor at the CMWTC and, along with others, had been attached to 46RM Commando for operations on 'D' Day. His death [2] is recorded on a document in our gallery relating to the CMWTC at St Ives as "died on active service."[3].
