Lance Sergeant Horace Cartlidge died as a result of a grenade priming accident at sea late afternoon on 9 December 1941 whilst aboard H.M.S. Prince Charles. The ship was being used for night time landings. Son of Sydney and Clara Cartlidge, of Ferrybridge, Yorkshire. Also killed was Gunner Thomas Pritchard.
