Lance Sergeant Horace Cartlidge died as a result of a grenade priming accident at sea late afternoon on 9 December 1941 whilst aboard H.M.S. Prince Charles. The ship was being used for night time landings. Son of Sydney and Clara Cartlidge, of Ferrybridge, Yorkshire.
