Marine Herbert Doane died during operations at Salerno, Italy, this date being that of the action on the hills by the village of Piegolelle (or Piegolette). Son of Albert and Alice Doane, of Hanham, Bristol; husband of Alice Amelia Doane, of Hanham.
In 1939 before his military service he was employed as a boot heel attacher residing with family at 15 Ansteys Road, Kingswood, Hanham. He was also a member of the Auxiliary Fire Service.
