Captain Branson Richards, a prisoner of war detained in Camp P.G. 29 at Veano, Piacenzo, Italy [1], was reported shot and killed whilst escaping captivity [2][3].
He received a posthumous Mention in Despatches [2][4].

Notes
Son of Frank Branson Richards and of Harriet Louise Richards (nee Bowman), of San Francisco, California, U.S.A.
His brother Flight Sergeant (Pilot) John Edward Richards, 61 Sqn.,RAF Volunteer Reserve, aged 20, also died in the war. Remembered with honour at Durnbach War Cemetery, Bayern, Germany.
