Captain Alexander Brodie served in the Middle East Commando. This Commando was short lived and he eventually returned to his Unit [1].
  • 11 July 1944  (Captain)  (5th Bn The Black Watch) awarded the Military Cross in recognition of gallant and distinguished service whilst commanding 'A' Company during operations at Colombelles, North West France [2][2A].
  • 20 February 1945 (Major) (5th Bn The Black Watch) awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his gallantry and leadership whilst commanding 'D' Company during operations South of Goch (Reichswald) to capture three strongly held positions on the enemy line of communications. Although wounded 4 times he continued to attack until his objective had been captured [3][3A].
  • 31 May 1956 (Lieutenant Colonel) (Temporary Local Colonel) appointed O.B.E. (Military Division) whilst Military Attache to the British Embassy in Seoul, a post he had held since 1953 [4][4A].
