William Henry Card enlisted 16 July 1942, previously employed in instrument assembly, and later volunteered for the Commandos. Marine Card, 40RM Commando, was captured by the enemy on 10 April 1945 during operations at Lake Comacchio, Italy. He was held at Dulag 339 Prisoner of War Transit Camp, Italy, until liberated 4 May 1945.
