Recommendation
"Operation Jubilee, Dieppe Area 19th August 1942.
Trooper Finney showed great courage and a high sense of duty by climbing a telegraph pole and, under heavy fire in broad daylight, cutting lateral communications which were of extreme importance to the enemy. He was fully exposed, but worked coolly with wire-cutters and, although the pole to which he was clinging was hit several times, Finney bore a charmed life and got down again uninjured. Recommended by Lt. Col. Lord Lovat."
