Son of Matthew and Bridget Farrelly.
Casualty Lists record his unit as "S.S. Bn". Special Service Battalion was a short lived title re-designation of commando and independent company units during a period of restructuring. The CWGC record shows Regiment only. The CWGC Grave Registration Report records his name as being on the Brookwood Memorial. A family notice placed in the Liverpool Daily Post 10 May 1941, page 4, states "killed by enemy action". Commando service requires verification from Service Record.

Notes
One explanation could be that he was killed by enemy bombing during the Liverpool Blitz. In the first eight days of May 1941 Liverpool was bombed almost every night. 1,900 people were killed, 1,450 seriously wounded [more....]..
