Corporal John Hiscock, Coxwain of Landing Craft November One, was awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal for his gallant and distinguished service whilst engaged with others from 9 Assault Squadron Royal Marines, on an amphibious patrol which came under small arms and anti tank missile fire on the Az Zubayr River near Umm Qasr, Iraq, on 30 March 2003. The explosion injured three men in the wheelhouse, one fatally, Marine Christopher Maddison.
