Commando's Bravery in Korea
"Corporal Henry Langton of 16 Faversham Road, Norris Green, Liverpool, is awarded the Military Medal for gallant and distinguished service in operations in Korea last night's London Gazette announced. Corporal Langton was among 23 members of 41 Independent Commando Royal Marines who receive awards. Stories of remarkable bravery behind the Marines breakout from the Koto-Ri reservoir to Hagaru-Ri which began at the end of November 1950.
The citation says he was in a truck which was ambushed on November 29. He coolly moved wounded from the blazing truck although the enemy were only a few yards away.
A few minutes later he moved across 100 yards of open ground swept by enemy fire and led a contact party to the main body."
