Albert Charles Garrett, a Metropolitan Police Officer since 18 July 1938, volunteered for the Commandos joining HM Armed Forces in May 1943. He attended the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry and after commando training was retained on the staff of the Training Centre from 9th August 1943 - 24th February 1945. He rejoined the Metropolitan Police on 21 October 1945 and retired with an ill-health pension on 31 July 1968.
In 1939 Police Constable Garrett, warrant number 127054, was single and residing at the Section House, 227 Upper Street Islington. He later married Dorothy and they had 5 children and 11 grandchildren. Registered blind in his 50s from a genetic condition. Member of the Commando Association.
