Colour Sergeant Arthur Humphreys was wounded and taken prisoner on 8 June 1944 during operations at Normandy, France. Served 13 years in the Royal Marines, and later was an Inspector in the Federation of Malaya Police. In 1954 he became an Inspector in the Northampton and District branch of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
