Marine Andrew Condron from Bathgate was reported missing on 29 November 1950 during operations at Chosin Reservoir, Korea. Found to be a prisoner of war. 1950 to 1953 imprisoned in Camp 10 at Chonma and Camp 5, Pyuktong, North Korea. Refused to be repatriated after the armistice choosing to defect. Lived, and married, in the People's Republic of China from 1953 to 1962. Returned to the UK with his wife in 1962.
