Army
Number:
5340675
Honours & Awards:
Corporal George Fyson received a Mention in Despatches for gallant and distinguished service in successful combined operations against the enemy at Vaagso and Maaloy.
Recommendation
When his Section Officer and Section Sergent had become casualties during the operations at Vaagso on December 27th, Cpl. Fyson took charge of the Section, disposed them under fire so as to cover an enemy centre of resistance, wiped out the enemy occupants, and led the section to rejoin his Troop. Throughout he behaved with great coolness, displayed a high degree of leadership and initiative, and was a fine example to all around him.
