Operations: 
William Johnson was attested into the Royal Artillery in 1938 [1]. He later joined No.5 Commando, was promoted Bombardier, and embarked on HMS Campbeltown for the raid at St. Nazaire on 28 March 1942 [2]. Reported missing after the raid he was then found to have been taken prisoner [3] and transported to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf, Poland [4]. After release he was posted to the Royal Engineers on 8 August 1945 [1].
