07-11-1940 Sergeant (Royal Artillery) attached to No.3 Commando.
No.3 Commando absorbed into 4th Special Service Bn. 
01.02.1941 posted No.8 Commando.
21.11.1941 posted to Officer Cadet Training Unit (OCTU).
04.05.1942 rejoins No.3 Commando as Lieutenant. 
19.08.1942 Lieutenant, 1 Section, 6 Troop, prisoner of war after Operation Jubilee at Dieppe.
08.5.1945 Repatriated to the UK posted Depot, Royal Artillery.
24.08.1945 rejoined No.3 Commando until disbanded.
10.12.1945 transferred to the Lancashire Fusiliers as a Lieutenant. 
10.02.1946 emplaned UK for India posted 1st Battalion. Later promoted Captain. 
03.10.1946 to 31.03.1947 War Substantive Captain (Temporary Major).
16.04.1948 released from military service and relinquishes commission. Granted the Honorary rank of Major.
