Notes: The CWGC make no mention of Commando service. The Casualty Record shows Middle East Commando Layforce died Burma. The 1st Bn. DLI was in Egypt in 1940 and was sent to help capture Vichy French Syria in June 1941 where Layforce was operating after which the DLI returned to Egypt and Palestine. The Army ROH WW2 shows theatre of war where died as China; the D.LI. Enlistment Registers also show China. Some from the Middle East Commando did go into serve in Burma and China (1st Special Service Detachment / Mission 204).
