1 Assault Group Royal Marines

1 Assault Group Royal Marines is the lead for amphibious warfare and Royal Navy board and search training. The group is tasked with training and developing core amphibious and surface assault skills and equipment. 
 
It is also tasked with parenting the Assault Squadrons of the Royal Marines (ASRMs) and their Landing Craft detachments which are assigned to the amphibious assault ships. 
 
On the 2nd August 2013, 1 AGRM and 10 Training Squadron moved into their new home at RM Tamar in Devonport.

HARRIS, Tristan

Major Tristan Harris was appointed M.B.E. (Military Division) in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Afghanistan during the period 1st October 2008 to 31st March 2009 [1].
  • 30 June 2010 promoted Lieutenant Colonel [2].

HYLTON, Jason

Marine Jason Hylton was attached to 539 Assault Squadron RM, and was killed along with others in an attack on a Multi-National Forces boat patrol on the Shatt Al-Arab waterway.

They were; Warrant Officer Class 2 Lee Hopkins, Royal Corps of Signals, Staff Sergeant Sharron Elliott of the Intelligence Corps, Corporal Ben Nowak of 45 Commando Royal Marines and Marine Jason Hylton of 539 Assault Squadron Royal Marines.
