Quartermaster Sergeant George Buttery, 40 Commando RM,  who had served as a Marine in 46RM Commando during WW2, was awarded the Military Medal for gallant and distinguished services on the 6th November 1956 during Operation Musketeer, the Anglo-French Invasion of Port Said, Egypt.  

Corporal Stephen Curley  died in an explosion whilst conducting a foot patrol in the Sangin area to reassure the local nationals and understand their concerns. [Source: MOD]

Captain Jon White, Recce Troop Commander, was severely injured when he stood on an Improvised Explosive Device while on patrol with 40 Commando Royal Marines in 2010 during Operation Herrick 12, at Sangin, Afghanistan. Jon lost both his legs above the knee, and his right arm at the elbow.
