Private Brinkley, 3 Troop, was reported missing 13 September 1943 during operations at Salerno, Italy. He was last seen fit and well on 10 September 1943 patrolling the Eastern slopes of Liberatore Hill in the company of Pte. Armitage and Cpl. Hawkins. Later found to have been taken prisoner and transported to Germany. Post war member of the Commando Association last known residing in Balham, London.
