Private Brinkley was reported missing 13 September 1943 during operations at Salerno, Italy. He was last seen patrolling the Eastern slopes of Liberatore Hill. Later found to have been taken prisoner and transported to Stalag 4DZ in Germany. Post war member of the Commando Association last known residing in Balham, London.
