Sergeant George Westwood died when his patrol was ambushed in the Cameron Highlands area of Malaya [1][2][3].
George Westwood was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs George Westwood of Main Street, Dunton Bassett. Educated at Lutterworth Grammar School he was a keen sportsman and played for Lutterworth Town Rugby Football Club when available. Sergeant Westwood was married with a five month old child he had not seen as he had been serving in Malaya for six months. During World War Two he served on HMS Dido [3].
