Frank Barton 6 Commando
Fusilier Frank Barton, aged 22 and from Nottingham, was reported missing 26 February 1943, later confirmed as a prisoner of war, during operations in Tunisia (Battle of Steamroller Farm). He escaped from Italian captivity 11 September 1943, along with his brother, 1460165 Sgt. F.T. Barton, Royal Artillery, captured in 1942 and in the same camp. Post war remained in service with 2 Para. AAC serving in Palestine from 10 April 1946 to 13 June 1947.
