William Bryce 40RM Commando
Marine William Bryce, 'A' Troop, died of wounds at the 2nd Field Hospital at Otok, Vis Island, Yugoslavia. Son of James and Jessie Leitch Bryce, of Wishaw, Lanarkshire. 
Marine Bryce was part of a boarding party on M.G.B. 647 patrolling the channel between Mljet Island and the Peljesac Peninsula southern Dalmatia, Yugoslavia. They engaged two German patrol boats, an E boat and an I Lighter. During the battle the E boat was sunk and the I Lighter badly damaged. The Royal Navy crew lost three sailors dead and three badly wounded. The Marines one dead, Marine Bryce, and two badly wounded, Marines Marshall and Botho.
