Probationary Second Lieutenant Royal Marines 1 September 1934. Acting Major and Second in Command of 44RM Commando on its formation from the disbanded 3 RM Battalion in August 1943. Wounded 11 March 1944 during a raid on the enemy occupied village of Alethangyaw, Arakan (Operation Screwdriver 1). Active service in the Far East included the formation of, and commanding, a Holding Commando in Ceylon for 3 Commando Brigade. Remained in service post war.
January 1961 Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence (Security); later that year Director of Admiralty Security. Appointed C.B.E. (Military Division) in 1964. Member of the Commando Association resided Gillingham, Kent.
