Gunner Joseph Wicks was reported missing 26 February 1943 during operations in North Africa (Battle of Steamroller Farm), later found to be prisoner of war in Italy. In 1944 he is reported no longer a prisoner of war. Gunner Wicks was a member of the No.6 Commando Boxing Team (Welterweight) in 1942. Post war member of the Commando Association from Harlow.
