Henry Hale, a Mine Worker from Rotherham, enlisted on 10 October 1938. After volunteering for the commandos during the war he was attached to No.6 Commando. Gunner Hale was reported missing 26 February 1943 during operations close to a farm at near El Aroussa, Tunisia (Battle of Steamroller Farm), later confirmed prisoner of war.
