George Fox was employed in a Salt Works in Cheshire prior to enlisting on 16 July 1940, later volunteering for the commandos. Lance Corporal Fox, No.6 Commando, was reported missing 26 February 1943 during operations near El-Aroussa in Tunisia (Battle of Steamroller Farm), subsequently confirmed slightly wounded by shrapnel and a prisoner of war. Post war member of the Commando Association from Congleton.
