Lance Sergeant George Churcher, 5 Troop, was reported missing on 28 March 1942 after Operation Chariot at St. Nazaire, later found to have been wounded and a prisoner of war.
He had embarked on ML262 for the raid. In February 1945 he escaped making it to allied lines. Post war he emigrated to Canada, had three children, and after 20 years moved to Singapore, Australia and then back to Vancouver Island.
