Eric Nathan alias Howarth 3 troop

Warrant Officer (Class 1) Nathan, who was of the Jewish faith, served in 3 troop, also known as  'X' troop, of the inter allied commando under the alias of Eric William Howarth. He was killed in action at Osnabruck Germany.
Born in Germany in 1922, he entered the UK as a refugee in 1938 after his father's detention in Germany. In 1940 he was interned on the Isle of man, before being sent to Canada. He volunteered for the British Army and was sent back to the UK joining the Pioneer Corps, and then the Commandos. He became Sgt Major of 3 troop which was also known as 'X' troop.
