Citation
Claricoates displayed outstanding courage and determination on three separate occasions. Every time he demonstrated remorseless and unerring gallantry in the face of the enemy.
In January 2007 whilst manning an observation post he was attacked. He carried his machine gun across open ground to a point where he could engage the enemy. Subsequently he ran back for more ammunition exposing himself again. Were it not for his exemplary gallantry, there is little doubt that casualties would have been inflicted on his position [2].
