Marine Benjamin McQueen drowned during a military diving exercise in Portland Harbour, Dorset. Judge coroner Sir Ernest Ryder said underwater entanglement, insufficient air and inadequate signal training contributed to his death. In September 2020, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) issued a Crown Censure over his death, which the MoD accepted. Marine McQueen joined the Royal Marines in September 2010 and later joined 45 Commando RM. He had previously deployed to Afghanistan on Operation Herrick 14.
