Alfred Samson alias Alfred Shelley 10 Commando 3 Troop
Alfred Samson, a German national of the Jewish faith, served in 3 troop, also known as 'X' troop, of the inter allied commando under the alias of Alfred Shelley.
He was attached initially as a Corporal to 45RM Commando in North West Europe but early in 1945 received a battlefield commission when posted to Italy.
16 October 1946 Certificate of Naturalization granted. London Gazette entry "Shelley, Alfred (formerly Alfred Samson); Germany; Serving Officer in His Majesty's Forces; The Sanatorium, Grassington, Yorkshire."
Post war member of the Commando Association last known residing in Surrey.
