Captain Alfred Brown was appointed M.B.E. (Military Division) 31 December 1960 [1].
Service [2].
1937 enlisted Royal Marines.
Served aboard HMS Curlew, HMS Argus, and HMS Penelope.
1941 promoted Corporal at Eastney and a Military Training Instructor.
1944  Corporal (Instructor), H.M.S. Chembur (shore based RM Camp at Bombay).
1945 returned to UK after promotion to Sergeant to specialise in Small Arms.
1951 promoted C.S.M. and Supply Officer of the R.M.F.V.R. (City of London).
Promoted Captain (QM) and posted to 45 Commando RM in Malta, returning to the UK when 45 Commando deployed to Aden,
Posted Eastney (S.O. Clothing) and becomes the assistant Curator of the RM Museum.
1961 New Years Honours appointed M.B.E. and Q.M. for 43 Commando RM which was reformed later in the year.
1966 promoted Major and posted from Dept of C.G.R.M. to 'Q' Branch.
1967 posted to D.A.A. and Q.M.G.
1971 retired from service.
1991 died whilst on holiday in Canada.
