Lance Corporal Walter Thompson, born Walter Gabriel Zadik, was reported missing 20 June 1944 in Normandy France, whilst attached to No.4 Commando, later found to be a prisoner of war. From Germany and of the Jewish faith he served under the alias in 3 Troop (also known as 'X' Troop) of No.10 (Inter Allied) Commando.
