Frederick Thomas Northover enlisted into the Royal Marines on 7 July 1942, having previously been employed in a Butchers. Corporal Northover serving with 46RM Commando, 'B' Troop, was captured during operations at Rots and Le Hamel, Normandy on 11 June 1944. In April 1945 Marine Northover hid in the camp along with others when the Germans attempted to move the prisoners on a march to a new location. Resided at Nunhead, London,on return to the UK.
