Thomas Ellis Jones 3 Commando
Thomas Ellis Jones resided in 1939 at 63A Gwladys Street, Liverpool and joined the Liverpool City Police as a Police Constable in April that year. He volunteered for the commandos in 1942. Enlisted into the General Service Corps 23 July 1942 and posted to the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. After completing the training on 24 September 1942 he was nominally transferred to the Cameron Highlanders and posted to No.3 Commando. Private Jones, No.3 Commando, was reported missing in Italy on 14 July 1943 during operations at Agnone Sicily and Malati Bridge (3 Commando Bridge), later found to be a prisoner of war. After the war Thomas resumed duties with the Liverpool Police retiring in 1964. His brother John James Jones served in No.7 Commando.
