Believed 2nd Police Intake to the Commando Depot in July 1942. Released from military service 15 September 1946. Possibly identical with Detective Chief Inspector William Howson, head of Lancaster Police CID who retired in 1975. Member of the Commando Association last known residing Morecambe, Lancashire.

Notes
Service number in a batch of those entering via the 2nd Police Intake to the Commandos in 1942. Final rank in Commandos was Tpr (No.3 Cdo uniquely listed all lowest ranks as Tpr) as per the Association newsletter. If confirmed as ident Its likely he transferred to the CMP from No.3 Cdo. and gained promotion to rank of WO2 as per the Medal Card.
