William Forsyth was a Liverpool City Police Constable in 1939, single and residing at 4 Lemon Grove, Liverpool. Name and unit on the Liverpool City Police Roll commemorating the Police Officers from 'D' Division (Rose Hill) who served in HM Forces currently located at St Anne Street Police Station, Liverpool.
In 1942 Constable Forsyth volunteered for service in the Commandos joining the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. Active service in No.3 Commando included Italy, France and Germany. Member of the Commando Association last known residing Aigburth, Liverpool.
