Private Victor Harding, 1 troop, was awarded the Military Medal in recognition of gallant and distinguished service for his successful evasion from capture after Operation Chariot at St. Nazaire on 28 March 1942. Having embarked on board motor launch ML 177 he was one of only five men from those who landed that evaded capture, escaping through France and making his way back to the UK before rejoining No.2 Commando.
