Thomas Rothwell 41RM Commando
Marine Thomas Rothwell joined the Royal Marines in 1941 and later served with 41RM Commando. He was seriously wounded and taken prisoner of war during operations at Salerno Italy on 18 September 1943. He served from 21 October 1941 until 23 May 1946 Class A Release.
  • Re-enlisted Royal Marines at Deal 31 October 1950. Served with 3 Commando Brigade RM, 42 Commando, from 7 December 1953 for the next 2 years.

His parents had been informed that he had been killed in action at Salerno and only discovered he was alive on his return home in 1945.
