Thomas Mackenzie 3 Commando
Private Thomas MacKenzie died during operations at Agnone, Sicily, and the bridge at Malati (3 Commando Bridge). Son of Hector and Jean Anderson Mackenzie, of Greenock. Thomas served with No.3 Commando from its formation at Plymouth until his death in Sicily during Operation Husky. Operations involving the whole of No.3 Commando in that period included Claymore (Lofoten islands), Archery (Vaagso), and Jubilee (Dieppe). Thomas was serving in 5 Troop in December 1941.

18.04.1939 - enlisted Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders T.A.
07.07.1940 - joins No.3 Commando during its formation at Plymouth.
10.11.1940 - No.4 Special Service Battalion (Special Service re-organisation).
05.03.1941 - No.3 Commando (Special Service re-organisation).
14.07.1943 - No.3 Commando, killed in action Sicily.

Notes 
On CWGC main record surname is Mackenzie; wheras it is McKenzie on the CWGC grave registration report (finals), on the headstone of his grave , and on the Casualty Lists above. The CWGC acknowledges the past confusion and confirm in a reply that as his mother filled out their Verification form as MacKenzie, that is what it they will record. The headstone will be amended accordingly.
