Stanley Percival Burden joined the Metropolitan Police Force on 31 May 1937 warrant number 126230. He entered the Armed Forces on 19 June 1942 after volunteering for the Commandos and was posted to the 1st Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. Fusilier Burden, No.1 Commando, served in North Africa and Burma. By 1945 he was in the HQ Troop of No.1 Commando. Returned to the Metropolitan Police on 16 February 1946 serving initially at Brixton, and then from 1949 on 'S' and 'Q' Divisions. Retired as a Constable on 21 July 1967. Member of the Commando Association last residing Exeter, Devon.
