Fusilier Samuel Parsons was wounded 8 November 1942 during operations in North Africa (Operation Torch) [1]. 
  • 2 March 1943 reported missing during operations in North Africa, later found to be a prisoner of war in Italy [2][2a].
  • 15 September 1943 escaped from Camp PG53, Italy [3].
  • October 1943 reported no longer a prisoner of war [3a][b].
  • Rejoined No.1 Commando serving in the Far East [4].
