Private Ronald Anthony McGowan was reported missing later confirmed killed in action during operations at Monte Ornito and Monte Faito, Italy. He has no known grave. Grandson of Patrick and Cathrine McGowan, of Craigneuk, Wishaw, Lanarkshire. His name is on a Marble Roll of Honour located on Monte Ornito.
